The Croatian national athletic selection achieved excellent results during the competition of the
2. League of the European Team Championship, held last weekend in Belgrade. Our selection managed to get into the 1. League after finishing this Team Championship
as second, behind Switzerland that won this competition and will also
move now into the 1. League, which is actually the second quality class in European athletics.
Croatia’s team achieved
109 of the maxim possible 200 points. The most famous among our selection is twice world champion
Blanka Vlašić, who won the high jump competition with
194 cm, where it must be noted that the competition was held under terrible weather conditions and heavy rain.
Sandra Perković was also very good, she
threw the disc onto
63.42 met and won in this discipline, but she also was best in
shotput with 15.57 met. Another victory celebrated
Sandra Parlov who won the
100 meters with 11.80.

The male athletes won in three disciplines,
Jurica Grabušić on 110 met hurdles with 13.67, Milan Kotur on 400 m hurdles with 51.42 and Roland Varga in disc throwing with 62.24 m.
Thanks to these results the Croatian National selection will compete in the 1. League next year, with Romania, Hungary, Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Turkey and Slovenia and four National Selections that dropped out of the Super-league – Greece, Norway and Finland.
