Blanka Vlašić is the winner of the Diamond League Meeting in Rome. This great Croatian athlete jumper over the bar set at 203 cm, her best seasonal result. Therefore she remains at the leading position in this discipline in the Diamond League series.
The spectators in the Olympic stadium in the capital of Italy could enjoy the interesting duel between Blanka and Chaunte Howard- Lowe. They had their first unsuccessful attempts at 198 cm. Blanka needed three and Howard – Lowe two attempts to jump this height. In this moment the American was first, but she didn´t keep that position for long. Our two times world champion jumped 201 cm at first attempt, while Howard – Lowe struggled and only made it in the third attempt. Finally both managed to jump 203 cm in their second attempt. Both athletes failed to jump 205 cm.
This third victory has confirmed the leading position of Vlašić in the Diamond League, where she now has twelve points, Howard-Lowe is second with six points and Lavern Spencer from St. Lucille is third with two points. She jumped 195 cm in Rome and came in third.
Speaking of the meeting in Rome, this is Blanka´s fourth victory in this “eternal city” and 203 cm is the meeting´s new record.
