The third Diamond League Meeting and the first one in Europe, will be held on Friday,
June 06th in Oslo. Among other stars, two Croatian athletes will compete in the Norwegian capital,
Blanka Vlašić in high jump and
Sandra Perković in disc throwing. Both started successfully in this years Diamond League, in Doha Blanka was first, while Sandra was third.
The high jumper from Split will try to defend her leading position in the Diamond League series against strong competitors, primarily
Chaunte Howard-Lowe, who had the best result of the season on Saturday, with 204 cm and she beat Blanka on May 27th in Ostrava.
Lavern Spencer, Ruth Beitia, Svetlana Školina and
Emma Green have confirmed their attendance, so that the high jump will be a very interesting one.
Same excitement is expected in women’s disc throw. The young Sandra Perković won one point in Doha at the Diamond League competition with 62.33 m and she will try to remain on the leading positions. She already threw 66.85 m this year, which is the second best this season after the German
Nadine Muller with her 67.78 m, who will also compete in Oslo. Other competitors in this discipline will be the winner of Doha , the Cubans
Yarelis Barrios and
Yarisley Collado, as well as the experienced Rumanian
Nicoleta Grasu.
Besides the high jump and disc throw competitions, the men’s javelin throw competition might be very attractive and exciting, because the Norwegian
Andreas Thorkildsen and the Finnish
Tero Pitkamaki will compete against each other, while
Asafa Powell will participate in the 100 m race. He is currently the best sprinter of this season with 9.83.
