Tyson Gay, will compete at the
Continental Cup in Split in the relay
4 x 100 metres. He arrived in Split on Thursday afternoon and joined the press conference in the Hotel le Meridien Lav.

I just arrived to Split, but it seems that the climate is better than in Zagreb. For now I like it very much here. – said Gay.

I am sorry for not running this race, because I am in best form now. I couldn’t run at the American championship because of an injury, so I have no right to compete at the Continental Cup in single completion, even I am ready at this moment. Besides that, I’m not worn out jet, so I can accomplish excellent results. Accordingly, I am very sad for not running the “hundred”, but the relay is a great challenge too – added Gay.
This will be a first for him to exchange the baton with somebody outside the USA, because the relay is composed of athletes from both South and North America.

I was never in a relay with athletes outside my country. This will be a special experience. I can’t say if we will run the best time ever ? At the beginning of the season I hoped that both Asafa Powell and Usain Bolt will compete, together we could have made it under 37 sec (the all times record is 37.10, note by author). But even in this constellation, we will do our best to run the fastest possible and we’ll see what happens – announced Gay.
