Tyson Gay will compete at the
IAAF / VTB Bank Continental Cup in Split. One of the fastest men alive and holder of the best result this season will run in
the Poljud stadium on Saturday 04th as member of
the Americas relay team on 4x100 m. The man who ran 9.78 on 100 meters this season and who has beaten Usain Bolt after two years, surely is one of the greatest stars of this Cup.
“We are very happy to be able to announce that Tyson Gay comes to Split. We have invested major efforts to get him to the Continental Cup and after a few conversations, the fastest man of the season agreed to come to Poljud. We all know that Tyson gay is one of the greatest athletes of the world, he holds the best result and ran only one hundredth of a second under his record on Friday in Brussels,” said the director of the Cup, Mr.
Siniša Ergotić.
Since he did not compete in the national championship of the USA, which is a requirement for selection into the Americas team, this fantastic American sprinter will not run on 100 and 200 meters, but only in the relay on 4 x 100 meters, the last discipline of the first day of the Cup.
“A spectacle is definitely guaranteed in Poljud stadium, I am confident that the entire world will enjoy the nice story that we have prepared. The participation of Tyson Gay is just the cream on the cake of our efforts and commitment to make this Continental Cup as memorable as possible,” added Ergotić.
Gay arrive to Split on Thursday, after competing at the Hanžeković memorial in Zagreb.
