David Rudisha – new world record holder

The Kenyan David Rudisha is the new world record holder on 800 meters. His time in Berlin was 1.41.09, which is two hundredth s of a second faster than the record set by the Kenyan with Danish passport, Wilson Kipketer in 1997.
This fantastic 21 year old athlete already ran under 1.42.00 this year, announcing that he is able to break Kipketer’s record. Well he accomplished this in the stadium that hosted last year’s World Championship.

With this great result, Rudisha made the best possible announcement for the IAAF/VTB Bank Continental Cup, where he will compete in the African team and be one of their greatest stars. It needs to be mentioned here that the former record holder Wilson Kipketer will be able to congratulate Rudisha live on his latest result, because Kipketer and the Australian Cathy Freeman will act as IAAF ambassadors on the Continental Cup.

For true friends of athletics, there is no better invitation than this for the Continental Cup in Split.
