THE MASCOT OF THE CONTINENTAL CUP – MARINO

What would a premiere sport’s competition be without a mascot. Accordingly the
IAAF / VTB Bank Continental Cup has an own
mascot with the name
“Marino”. Marino is a funny and merry seagull that was designed by the children of the
“Juraj Bonaći” institute, a school for education and care for children with special needs. Under guidance by the
caregiver Snježana Čotić the kids invested a lot of time and effort to become part of this great athletics story and came up with this mascot they named “Marino”, as their gift to the citizens of Split and their guests and athletes from all over the world.
Especially small children seem to like Marino very much and since the seagull always resembled freedom of body and spirit, adults have accepted the mascot also. Therefore, don’t be surprised when you meet Marino who is always ready for a joke and laughter and will surely entertain you with the endless energy. Marino will contribute that Split remains for a long time in your memory.
Marino awaits all fans of athletics to the Poljud stadium and we have no doubt that both kids and adults will enjoy his company and become part of this unique spectacle.
